JORN VAN HOON

Jorn van Hoorn, born in 1982, is a multidisciplinary artist whose work defies conventions and redefines our perception of reality. From his humble beginnings as a young art student at Sint Lucas school in 1999, to becoming an innovative television producer at the public broadcaster BNN in the Netherlands, van Hoorn has forged a unique path in the world of contemporary art.

His distinctive style transforms everyday objects into expressions that seem to belong to alternate realities, questioning the preconceived notions of what reality is. What is reality if not a subjective perception or a learned objective reality? This is the question that his art raises, challenging the viewer to reflect on the nature of their own perception.

Van Hoorn uses diverse materials as catalysts for his creativity, adapting to the speed of his thought and work. His artistic process is a whirlwind that leaves a trail of paint, clay, and graffiti, reflecting his passion and energy. His work primarily focuses on universal themes such as love, beauty, and transience, explored through sculptures that capture the very essence of the human experience.

Throughout his career, van Hoorn has achieved numerous significant milestones. From his first solo exhibition at the age of 19 at Galerie Kuijpers, to exhibitions in renowned museums such as the Van Der Togt Museum in Amstelveen in 2012, his work has been acclaimed both nationally and internationally.

In 2018, his talent was recognized with an Urban Art Award in the "most inventive" category. Additionally, he collaborated on the development of a unique art coin alongside Pablo Escobar's son, demonstrating his ability to transcend boundaries and explore new forms of artistic expression.

Jorn van Hoorn continues to challenge established norms and captivate audiences worldwide with his innovative and provocative art, leaving an indelible mark on the contemporary art scene.
