SILVIO PORZIONATO

Silvio Porzionato nació en Moncalieri (Italia) en 1971. Es un pintor figurativo que prefiere pintar al óleo sobre grandes lienzos. Fotografía a sus amigos y a la gente que encuentra por la calle. Sus figuras son estatuas de cerca, aunque sean personas corrientes; tienen el poder de hacernos olvidar la dimensión privada típica de los retratos y, al mismo tiempo, tienen el poder de convertirse en iconos del género humano.

Silvio se licenció en una escuela de arte, después fue diseñador jefe durante una década en una gran empresa italiana. Finalmente, decidió empezar una nueva vida en el silencio del campo, en estrecha relación con la naturaleza y el arte. Así encontró su camino; llamó la atención y ganó numerosos premios nacionales. Después de solo un año recibió el Premio de Arte Mondadori y en 2010 ganó el Premio de la Crítica en Saluzzo Art y realizó una obra permanente para el Museo de Arte Urbano de Turín. En 2011, fue seleccionado para la 54 edición de Venice Arts. En 2013, creó tres instalaciones llamadas «Código temporal» compuestas por 112 pinturas para el MACS (Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Sicilia), casi una galería de espejos que reflejan las diferentes edades del hombre, desde la infancia hasta la vejez: cada retrato tiene la misma intensidad y significado. Sus últimas exposiciones individuales y colectivas tuvieron lugar en Hong Kong, Miami, Chicago, Londres, París Bogotá, Nueva York, Seúl y Estambul.

Silvio Porzionato was born in Moncalieri (Italy) in 1971. He is a figurative painter who prefers oil painting on large canvases. He takes pictures of his friends and people he meets on the street. His figures are statuary up close, though they are ordinary people; they have the power to make us forget the private dimension typical of portraits and, at the same time, they have the power to become icons of the human race.

Silvio graduated from an art school, then he was chief designer for a decade in a large Italian company. Finally, he decided to start a new life in the silence of the countryside, in close connection with nature and art. So he found his way; He was noticed and won numerous national awards. After only a year he received the Mondadori Art Prize and in 2010 he won the Critics’ Prize at Saluzzo Art and made a permanent work for the Urban Art Museum in Turin. In 2011, he was selected for the 54th edition of Venice Arts. In 2013, he created three installations called «Temporary Code» made up of 112 paintings for the MACS (Museum of Contemporary Art of Sicily), almost a gallery of mirrors that reflect the different ages of man, from childhood to old age: each portrait has the same intensity and meaning. His last individual and collective exhibitions took place in Hong Kong, Miami, Chicago, London, Paris Bogota, New York, Seoul and Istanbul.
